Choosing a table for eight or more

For a fixed table, compare the Cambria Rectangular, listed for eight, with the La Costa, listed for six to eight. Cambria has a 78.75-inch rectangular top; La Costa has an 86.5-inch live-edge top.

For a table that changes length, compare Dalton and Ihland. Also see January and Manorhouse. Measure the patio with the table fully extended and allow room for seated guests and circulation.

A table's listed seating is different from the number of chairs included in a set. Check the set's contents when shopping complete dining sets.

Construction, umbrella holes and care

Compare the product specifications for materials, assembly and umbrella-hole details. Birmingham Square and Cambria Rectangular list a 1.75-inch pre-drilled umbrella hole; Cambria Round does not have one. Choose shade to suit the exact table model.

Natural teak changes colour as it weathers. Follow HiTeak's care and maintenance guidance and the labels on approved teak care products. See the teak oil and care product guide before choosing a treatment.

Frequently asked questions and buying guides

Which teak dining table seats eight?

The Cambria Rectangular is listed for eight people; La Costa for six to eight. For an extendable option, Dalton is listed for eight to ten when extended. Seating depends on your chair widths and layout, so compare the exact table and chair dimensions before ordering.

Which tables extend for larger gatherings?

Dalton extends from 70.75 to 90.5 inches long. Ihland extends from 83.5 to 118 inches with two self-storing leaves. The collection also includes January and Manorhouse extension tables; check each product page for dimensions and configuration.

Do the tables include an umbrella hole?

Umbrella-hole details vary by model. Birmingham Square, Cambria Rectangular, Dalton and Ihland list a 1.75-inch hole. Cambria Round does not include a pre-drilled umbrella hole. Check the selected model before choosing your shade setup.

How do I choose chairs for my table?

Compare chair width, arm height, table height and leg positions. Overall table dimensions do not establish how many chairs will fit between the legs or whether armchairs will tuck under the top. Browse coordinated dining sets or contact HiTeak about your intended combination.

Outdoor Table Guide

Choosing the Right Teak Outdoor Dining Table

The right teak outdoor dining table depends on your seating needs, patio shape, and how the space will be used. Round tables create easy conversation in smaller areas, rectangular tables work well for larger gatherings, and square tables offer a balanced layout for patios, terraces, and garden dining spaces.

Round Tables

Best for Conversation

Round teak dining tables work well for smaller patios, breakfast areas, and relaxed outdoor meals where every seat feels connected.

Rectangular Tables

Best for Hosting

Rectangular teak dining tables are ideal for larger patios, outdoor kitchens, family meals, and entertaining more guests.

Square Tables

Best for Balanced Layouts

Square teak tables create a clean, symmetrical layout for patios, garden spaces, and smaller outdoor dining areas.

Bistro Tables

Best for Compact Spaces

Bistro-style teak tables are well suited for balconies, small terraces, poolside seating, and intimate outdoor dining settings.

FAQ

Choose the table size based on how many people you seat most often and how much clearance you have around the table. Smaller patios usually work best with round, square, or bistro-style teak tables. Larger patios and terraces can support wider rectangular teak dining tables for family meals and entertaining.

Round teak dining tables are best for conversation and compact spaces. Square tables create a balanced layout for smaller patios. Rectangular teak dining tables usually seat more people and work well for long terraces, outdoor kitchens, and formal entertaining areas.

Yes. Teak is a strong choice for outdoor dining tables because it is dense, naturally oil-rich, and suited for outdoor exposure. Grade-A teak is especially valued for patios, gardens, resorts, restaurants, and long-term outdoor dining spaces.

The number of chairs depends on the table shape and size. Compact round or square teak tables usually seat 2 to 4 people. Medium tables often seat 4 to 6, while larger rectangular teak dining tables can seat 6, 8, or more depending on the design.

Teak dining tables are designed for outdoor use and can remain outside in many climates. Over time, untreated teak naturally develops a silver-gray patina. Regular cleaning and proper teak care can help maintain the table’s appearance and extend its service life.

Yes, teak dining tables are suitable for restaurants, resorts, hotels, clubs, and commercial outdoor dining areas. For hospitality projects, confirm sizing, inventory, lead times, care requirements, and replacement-piece support before placing a larger order.
